Division ‘A’

Heslerton became the first team to attain 300 league points during a season when they gained a maximum 20 points to take the Division ‘A’ title on their own ground against Sewerby 2nds. In a match reduced to 40 overs after two interruptions for rain the home team lost two early wickets with 18 runs on the board after 10 overs before Anthony Scott 48 including 6 fours and 2 sixes and Malc Spaven put on 65 for the third wicket before Scott was bowled by Cameron Rusbridge-Burns. Cayton just 4 points behind the leaders at the start of play had to gain maximum points to put the pressure on Heslerton but also suffered rain interruptions, their match against Settrington being reduced to 38 overs. The visitors batting first were restricted to 126-8, Jonty Rounthwaite leading the way with 40 as Paul Woodhead claimed 3-24 before featuring in a second wicket partnership of 120 with Craig Sherwin 46 to help gain 16 points for the home team, Woodhead finishing undefeated on 73 in the 7 wicket victory.

At the other end of the table Snainton’s relegation was confirmed at Scalby who batting first gained the 5 points required to ensure their survival by scoring 234 – 8, Lee Kerr 35, Mike Buttery 35 and Paul Marton an excellent unbeaten 108 including 19 fours and a six being the principle run scorers with Johnathan Maw claiming 3-44. Replying Snainton remained positive Michael Eyre scoring 59 and Robert Holt 40 but with the total on 176-3 rain drove the players from the pitch causing the match to be abandoned.

Brompton were bowled out by relegated Sherburn for 138 in a match reduced to 34 overs, Neil Fletcher 31 and Rob Lockey 25 the leading scorers with Philip Pickard taking 3-16 but in reply the visitors had no answer to Philip Pateman 5-21 being bowled out for 79.

Division ‘B’

Nawton Grange looked firm favourites to take the Division ‘B’ title but found relegation threatened Fylingdales too hot to handle being sent back to the pavilion for 113, Mark Estill being in rampant form taking 7-33 before scoring 31 n.o. and with Peter Hincliffe adding 38 gained a victory giving them hope of avoiding the drop by 4 wickets.

The demise of Nawton Grange resulted in Wold Newton taking the title having bowled Cloughton 2nds out for 73 with only Adrian Owenson 19 threatening a more challenging total as Will Gray claimed 5-17 from his 12 overs leaving the visitors to knock off the runs without loss, Will Hall scoring 16 and Tim Lazenby 39.

Cayton 2nds required a victory against Staxton 2nds to ensure avoiding relegation and no man could have done more to help their cause than Simon Glave who claimed 8-48 to reduce Staxton 2nds to a total of 164 at tea, Adam Hargreaves 53 and Craig Hill 33 the principle scorers and in reply scored a half century out of a total of 134-9, Dan Outhart having claimed 4-35 and Mark Dove 4-34 but the 7 points gained by Cayton left them on equal points with Fylingdales the two clubs having to play off next weekend to decide who will be relegated with Ganton.

Ten man Ganton put Thornton Dale into bat at Thornton Dale bowling them out for 117, Iain Farrow remaining unbeaten on 29 as Rob Gretton claimed 3-37 from 12 overs and Atul Palakottil 4-22 from 6.5 overs. Replying Lockton knocked off the runs in 20.2 overs, Richard Boyes 77 n.o. and Les Welburn 38 n.o featuring in an unbroken 3rd wicket partnership of 91.

Division ‘C’

Hunmanby only required 3 points to take the Division ‘C’ title but were made to fight all the way by Scarborough 3rds for whom number 3 batsman Mathew Renwick hit an incredible unbeaten 150 out of their total of 203-5, an innings which included 20 fours. Replying with only one more point required Dan Baldry scored 78 out of a final total of 141, Jordan Welford bowling his leg spinners to claim 5-31.

Scalby 2nds required every point possible to avoid relegation and playing second placed Ryedale had a major fight on their hands a challenge they responded to Tim Barton scoring 41, Phil Perry 53 and Dan Barber 43 as Alex Ibbotson claimed 6-62 from his 12.4 overs to end the visitors innings on 196. Replying the home team struggled as Shapique Rehman claimed 5-22 from 15 overs with only Alex Ibbotson 27 and Ian Smith 31 featuring to be bowled out for 101.

Seamer 2nds match at Muston was rained off with Seamer on 3 without loss but the 5 points gained was sufficient to send Scalby 2nds down by one point.

Ebberston 2nds finished in third place after their 47 run victory at Grindale. Peter Revis 76, Jon Metcalfe 27 n.o. and Joe Tyson 25 helped Ebberston to a total of 241-8, Andy Smith having claimed 3-71 and in reply despite Simon Battams scoring 50 and Zac Moore 26 the home team were bowled out for 194, Simon Pickering taking 3-27 and Eddie Swiers 3-50.
