Brompton Cricket Club was one of the original members of the Beckett League and the earliest record in the Club’s possession is a medal recording the fact that Brompton won the Beckett Cup in 1911/12.

In 1925 the Cayley Estate gave the present cricket ground to the Club on the condition that it continued to be used as a cricket ground. The earliest fixture card we have is 1932 which records the fact that Brompton were winners of the Pickering Cup 1927/28, of the Beckett League in 1929, the Snainton Cup in 1930 and the Pickering up again in 1931.

Brompton again won the Beckett League in 1934 and after the war ended in 1949, 1950 and 1952. On one occasion the President and also Captain of the team, Sir Kenelm Cayley was so pleased that he took the team to London for two nights including a visit to the theatre.

Brompton is proud to have initiated the Cayley Cup and for many years all Cayley Cup matches were played at Brompton.

The present pavilion was built in 1950 by members of the club at a cost of £250 and took the place of a railway carriage used until then.

There was an active Ladies Cricket Club which continued until the mid 1960’s.
