The first record of cricket at Ganton is in 1880 although it was believed to be earlier.

The present ground was laid by the Legard family, who lived at Ganton Hall, in around 1900.

For the first 60 years of the Beckett League, Ganton was one of the leading clubs in the district but since the mid seventies they have been nomadic, moving between the lower divisions.

The present pavilion, which is thought to be the third, doubles as the Village Hall and was built in 1994.

Among former players, although better known for playing golf, Harry Varden, who won the Open four times and the U S Open once

After supporting one team for the past 35 years in 2007 the club re-started a 2nd X1 and is currently thriving which hopefully will continue for years to come.
